Ken Block’s Final Gymkhana Video Is Coming Next Month

To say the world lost a true great when Ken Block passed is an understatement. The business guru-turned rally driver-turned-automotive icon wowed us for years with his extreme driving ability, showcased no better than through his series of gymkhana videos. We’re delighted then that, for one last time, we’ll be able to watch a new entry into the famous series.

Set to be released in December, Hoonigan filmed Electrikhana 2 at the end of last year, shortly before Block’s death in January. The star of the show, along with Block himself, is the Audi S1 Hoonitron - the dual-motor, 671bhp EV built for the original Electrikhana film.

We’ll have to wait for its release before seeing what Block had in store for us in what would prove to be his final video. It looks set to be an epic though, with an opening shot of the Hoonitron starting in an empty Mexico City’s Plaza de Toros Mexico, before going on to tear up the streets of the city.

It’s almost hard to believe it’s been 15 years since the very first Gymkhana video was released, but it was 2008 when Block burst onto the scene - causing havoc on a empty airfield. The series only grew from there, each getting more extreme - with twelve ‘main’ gymkhana videos and a few spin-offs along the way.

If you’re anything like us, you may most fondly remember Block’s first appearance on Top Gear has his true arrival to a global audience, scaring the daylights out of James May as he drove the way he did best.

His daughter, Lia, has been continuing his legacy. Earlier this year, she took on the Pikes Peak Hillclimb in her dad’s 1,400bhp Hoonipigasus.
