Though Lamborghini has soldiered on with the V12 thanks to hybrid assistance in the Revuelto, its baby V10 doesn’t look to have been saved. A mule of the Huracan’s replacement has been spotted, and it sounds like a V8 on board.

A clip from NCars captures the unnamed baby Lamborghini undergoing testing, with its mostly silent driving pretty much confirming the expected use of a hybrid setup.

Watch through though (or skip to 1:13 in the video, there’s a lot of wind noise along the way) and there’s a brief moment when the engine fires up with the car reversing - and it's inarguably the expected V8.

Though only rumoured at this stage, it could be a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 borrowed from the Urus. In both the S and Performante (there’s no ‘base’ Urus as such these days), it produces 657bhp and 627lb ft of torque. We can only speculate for the time being, but in that state of tune, electric assistance would likely take that figure well beyond 700bhp, and potentially north of 800bhp to compete with the 819bhp Ferrari 296 GTB.

For context, the Revuelto’s relatively complex tri-motor setup (one connected to the gearbox, the other two at the front axle) provides an additional peak of 187bhp to the V12’s 814bhp. It’s unclear how the motors will be integrated within the new baby Lamborghini at this stage.

What else can we tell about the Huracan replacement? Well, it appears the engine is covered rather than tucked under a large glass panel like the launch Huracan, and there’s no missing the gigantic centre-mounted exhaust exit.

We’ve got to give a nod to Lamborghini for giving us a giggle with the faux Gallardo headlights on top of the camo wrap, too.

Expect to hear more on the new Lamborghini Huracan replacement over the coming months, with an expected arrival next year.
