The New Porsche Panamera Will Be A Screen-Laden Tech-fest

Brace yourselves, Porschephiles, for a new Panamera is upon us. Ahead of the saloon’s full unveiling on 24 November, the interior of the car has been shown off - and it’s absolutely packed with screens.

Just as with the Taycan and the new Cayenne, the new Porsche Panamera will swap out part-physical, part-digital instrument clusters for a curved display - here measuring 12.6 inches. As ever, it’ll split information into three separate sections - with speed and revs front and centre.

Each section is customisable through the steering wheel, as will be an optional head-up display.

No surprise, you’ll also have a huge infotainment system sitting in the centre but notably, there’s now an optional screen for the passenger’s side. It’ll give whoever’s in the front alongside you control of most infotainment functions without having to lean across - particularly handy for DJ duties - and perhaps most interestingly for them, access to streaming apps.

The new Panamera will also follow the Cayenne in moving the gear selector from the centre console and onto a new stubby add-on just to the side of the steering wheel. That frees up some space for a little bit more storage and a little more room for your arms.

Other bits coming to the Panamera include dashboard-width ambient lighting, supposedly improved foam in the seats that should give them a bit more cushioning, plus the option for leather-free upholstery for the first time on the model.

We’ll have to wait until 24 November for more technical details on the new Porsche Panamera. If we’re to hazard a guess, expect a range of engines from the base model up to a Turbo S E-Hybrid (Porsche has confirmed four plug-in hybrid versions will be offered), and no doubt some insane new chassis trickery to help the behemoth handle as a Porsche should. Watch this space.
