Porsche’s Turbo Models Will Now Come With A New Badge

Turbonite arrives as a new grey just for Turbo models, and the Porsche crest will drop the gold to make way for it
Porsche’s Turbo Models Will Now Come With A New Badge

We know Porsche’s line-up can be confusing to decipher at times, and if you’re not completely clued up on what to look for, it can be tricky to tell a Carrera from a GTS from a Turbo and so on. Well, one of those just got a little easier at least.

Turbonite has been introduced as a new metallic grey just for (you guessed it) Turbo models from the Stuttgart manufacturer. There’s a tinge of gold in there too, just to give it a standout among Porsche’s other grey options.

Arriving first on the new Panamera set to be revealed later this month, most notably you’ll be able to have Turbonite-plated Porsche crests which swap out the usual gold, black and red. It will be added to “all model series” at a later date, so keep your eyes peeled.

Additionally, you’ll be able to have Turbonite pretty much anywhere on the car. Rear badges, window surrounds, bumper inlays and even wheels will be available in the hue. Turbo models will also get a steering wheel badge to match those on the outside, plus the option of contrasting stitching in the grey.

For now, at least, it seems Porsche has stopped shy of offering it as a body colour, so you can’t quite go full Turbonite just yet.

You name it, you can probably have Turbonite on it...

Michael Mauer, Porsche’s chief designer, said: “In 1974, we presented the first turbocharged 911. Since then, the Turbo has become a synonym for our high-performance top models and is now more or less a brand of its own.

“We now want to make the Turbo even more visible and differentiate it more markedly from other derivatives such as the GTS. This is why we’ve developed a distinctive Turbo aesthetic. From now on, the Turbo versions will exhibit a consistent appearance across all model series – one that is elegant, high-quality and very special.”
